Wembley. July 30th, 1966. Bobby Moore receives the Jules Rimet Trophy from the Queen and lifts it to the sky.

England’s captain wore #6 and was ever-present throughout a tournament played entirely on home soil. Described by his own manager Alf Ramsey as “my captain, my leader, my right-hand man… the spirit and heartbeat of the team,” Moore was a different kind of defender - calm, intelligent, never reckless. He read the game twenty minutes before everyone else. He captained England 90 times in 108 appearances.

The 4–2 win over West Germany in extra time remains England’s only World Cup title. It will never not be significant.

This is the shirt. This is the #6. There is nothing else like it in English football history.

Prep the Garment: Close all zippers and fasteners, then turn the item inside out. This protects logos, prints, and prevents fasteners from rubbing against other clothes in the wash.

Washing: Wash by hand or in the machine on a lukewarm cycle (maximum 40°C / 104°F). Merino Wool items should be washed gently at 30°C

Separate if Possible: Wash cycling gear separately from rough fabrics like denim to prevent abrasion.

Detergent: Use a small amount of liquid detergent. Avoid powders, fabric softeners, stain removers, or bleach, as these can reduce garment performance.

Drying: Hang on a hanger or lay flat outdoors to dry. Avoid tumble drying, and do not iron, to maintain the life of the fabric and chamois. Merino wool items should be laid flat to dry
